About The Lazy Doctor

Dr. I has been a licensed mental health professional for nearly 15 years. She earned her bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke and her Master of Social Work from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. She later earned her Doctor of Healthcare Science degree from Pacific University.

Dr. I is a proud U.S. Army veteran who served honorably at multiple duty stations for several years. She owned her private clinical practice for more than a decade and specialized in couples therapy, veterans support, guiding trauma survivors, and working with individuals struggling with addiction. Throughout her career, she has also worked in a variety of settings, including local government agencies, military installations, outpatient clinics, and residential treatment facilities.

She has delivered numerous public speaking engagements focused on continuing education for mental health professionals and has advocated for policy changes that strengthen the mental health care landscape.

Throughout her military service and years in clinical practice, Dr. I experienced burnout. That experience inspired her to become deeply intentional about self-care, eventually earning her the nickname "The Lazy Doctor."

After transitioning away from direct clinical practice, Dr. I found her dharma in content creation, writing, podcasting, and media project development. Through her platforms, she combines clinical expertise with authenticity, humor, and practical insights to promote healthier relationships, enhanced emotional well-being, accountability, and self-care.

When she's not creating content, Dr. I enjoys embracing the art of being "lazy" with her wife, two children, and beloved Sphynx cats.
